Choosing an eBook publisher

Image

After reading an encyclopaedia worth of websites on how to publish eBooks I ended up going for two places. First, having gone to the bother of designing it for print with full layout as a proper book I wanted people to be able to see it this way. I wanted to offer it as such but the file is over 144MB and eBooks typically have limits. The only place I could find to offer a full version of the PDF without it being for actual print was PAYLOADZ.

I also wanted it to be available for downloading to eReaders such as Kindle, iPad or iPhone size. I read most of my eBooks on my iPhone. The service that was the most accessible to achieve this was smashwords. They have a 5MB file limit and the file has to be almost format free. This is because most e Readers flow the text and images to suit the device and reader preferences not how the book designer might have wanted it. Actually it makes sense and viewing the pictures on the iPad the low resolution version is fine.

So here they are.
