One place we will definitely be visiting on the Isle of Harris – over and over is Rosamol.
Looking south from Rosamol beach near Luskentyre puts Ceapabhal on the Horizon.
We got married on this beach in October and the weather window was perfect. This was taken just after the ceremony and in my view the Black and White renders it like a night time scene.
It reminds me of some fantastic prints we purchased from a superb photographer that works on the Island. Beka Globe produces the highest standard of print I have seen and with her partner run The Mission House – http://www.themissionhouse.co.uk. You should take a look at her work (Click here to see a PDF of a collection of hers).
Anyway, to get to Rosamol beach follow the road to Luskentyre and keep going till you can go no further. You reach a car park (with public loo) and its just a short walk to the beach. Many people assume it is all called Luskentyre beach but actually Luskentyre beach is on the left as you drive in. You can walk right round from Rosamol to Luskentyre on nothing but golden sands and pass this view on the way.
Also on the road to Rosamol you will pass the famous Luskentyre Harris Tweed Company , which is the house of Donald John MacKay MBE. Donald is the weaver who raised the profile of Harris Tweed by selling his designs to Nike.
Here is Mhairi with Donald during our last trip.
