Harris: A journey – the video

We have visited the Isle of Harris three times in the last twelve months and taken over  thousand photographs.  We love Harris and have tried many ways to show our favourite pictures from our trips such as using slide shows , prints and photo-books. Some of the images are for sale as prints of licensed images in our Harris gallery.

However, a way we have come to love is making iMovies of them on our mac. Mhairi has developed a great skill at editing them and here is her movie. The full 30min version. She really has mastered use of the ken burns effect. iMovie allows great customisation of ken burns motion effect on still images.  If you have the time or want some nice background images and music give yourself a relaxing half hour and watch this.

We decided after trying you tube for sharing video that VIMEO was the best. The reasons were there is a larger file limit and it looks more professional.

We would be happy to pay a small reasonable amount for the use of this music if someone can explain how we could have done that easily. We have obviously paid for the track for our own use but unlike photographs music sites don’t yet provide licence options at a reasonable cost. If an author of the music want to get in touch please do.

Here is the credit list of the music.

Name                                                                 Artist

An Ataireachd Ard (The Surge Of The Sea)  Karen Matheson
The Dark Island                                                 Fergie MacDonald & Iain McLachlan

Cum Ur N’ Aire (Remember Your Roots)     Glasgow Islay Gaelic Choir

Is Gaidheal Mi                                                   Mairi Mac Innes
An Ubhal As Airde                                            Glasgow Gaelic Choir

I believe the Performing Rights Society are working on a way that we can easily pay a small amount to them to cover limited use of music for use in self-produced videos.
